Commodore Vijay Shankar Babelay

Vishist Seva Medal (Retd.)

Commodore V. S Babelay, VSM (Retd.) was commissioned in the Indian Navy in January 1980. He was deployed at various cadet training ships and on two aircraft carriers - "Vikrant and Viraat". He held various responsibilities including the instructor at NDA Khadagwasla, Principal in Sainik School, Director of Naval Education, Inspecting Officer of the Sainik Schools of India and Principal Director Naval Oceanology and Meteorology (NOM), New Delhi.

He was appreciated by Govt of Assam and Bengal, for his outstanding contribution towards Sainik Schools and honoured with Vishist Seva Medal besides the following awards:

 

·      Certificate of excellence Mother Teresa Excellence Award

· Commendations by Chief of Naval Staff and Commander-in-chief

·      Shiksha-Ratna Samman

·      Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Award

·      Swabhiman Samman

· Bundelkhand Gaurav Samman International friendship award

 

He holds great interest in writing, and many of his compositions have been published in various magazines. He is also the author of 3 books. One of his books was released by the Honourable President of India.
